Whatsapp And Gmail Reached A Milestone Of One Billion Users
WhatsApp and Gmail have just achieved a milestone; both companies are claiming that their total number of users is more than one billion per month. Gmail which is a product of Google and WhatsApp which is a product of Facebook has just claimed both have the one billion users that use their services with in a circle of 30 days’ time span. The interesting fact about that development is that, both of news comes almost at the same time frame. Gmail’s milestone was announced during the alphabet’s quarter four earnings call while the WhatsApp news comes after some time. Although both of these updates are not surprising because of the reason, these services are provided by some big IT giants; Facebook and Google.
At the time of announcing that news, CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg admired the services of Jan Koum and Brain Acton for achieving that landmark. He was determined about the enrichment in service quality and getting the attraction of more users towards their innovative products. He said that in future we are planning to make communication much easier for the people of the world and, you will see more users coming to use our platform for communication.
Now the Facebook flagship services groups have each more than a billion users, that news is also announced by the media team in the same briefing. From the point of view of company’s future, that is positive news and it will surely help them to maintain a healthy positive image in the minds of users. As compared to Gmail; WhatsApp takes less time to reach one billion milestones. Gmail which was launched in 2004 takes much longer time to hit one billion users.
The nature of both the services is different; one is the most reliable and efficient way of doing emails and other one is considered as one of the most appreciated communication medium. So making a comparison between these two products will not be a fair approach. From their initiation, Gmail has to face an intense competition from yahoo and Hotmail (renowned as outlook). Reaching the landmark of one billion users in the presence of other alternatives is a great achievement for Gmail.
On the contrary, WhatsApp gets the benefit of Facebook strong platform and doesn’t find the substantial amount of competition. It outperforms all the major online messaging and chatting competitors. Only Skype give a tough time to that top quality innovate featured service of Facebook but fails to grab the attention of users. Most of the users having smartphones prefer to install WhatsApp instead of Skype. That is the reason why they achieve the landmark of one billion users earlier than Gmail.
